icensing of dancing

Dancing by members of the public is not in itself something that has to be licensed, but any facilities provided for dancing - such as a dance floor - do need permission.

Dancing by performers is another story - anything that could be described as performing a dance or similar to members of the public needs to be covered by a premises licence or a temporary events notice. Some local authorities have even suggested that motorcycle display teams, JCB exhibitions or dressage should be covered under the heading of "similar to dancing". To apply for a licence or give a Temporary Event Notice, there are some important steps that need to be carried out, such as notifying the police. If you have not submitted an application or given a notice before, you may find that you need some help in doing so. We have considerable experience of this type of work, as well as attending any hearing that may be required.
